WHAT IS TENS?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a non-invasive, nonpharmacological electrotherapeutic procedure used for pain control. TENS involves the application of electrical current through electrodes placed on the skin through the accompanied use of a TENS Units.

 

HOW DOES TENS WORK?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a method of pain relief involving the use of a mild electrical current. Small electrical impulses are delivered to the affected area of your body to reduce the pain signals going to the brain, which helps relieve pain and relax muscles. TENS at certain frequencies also stimulates the production of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkiller.
